The postfix MILTER-README (http://www.postfix.org/MILTER_README.html) details the following macros available to the different protocol levels: Protocol 4 or higher milter_data_macros (protocol stage: DATA) Protocol 3 or higher: milter_unknown_command_macros (protocol stage: unknown command) Everything else is at protocol 2 it seems.
