You mentioned that the error can occur if there is a corrupted 
key.  That's an input to the OpenSSL library.  If we label this one 
as an OpenSSL error, people may read it as an error in the library.

I understand.  I'm not saying that there is a best way to solve this issue.

We could leave this issue open and address it in a future 
release.  Based on rough sampling of my logs, it doesn't seem 
critical at the moment.
