It is not "an IETF document".  One of those would have a name that
starts with "draft-ietf-", followed by the name of the working group
it's part of.  And even then, it's just a "work in progress."  IETF
documents have RFC numbers.  IETF work in progress has "draft-ietf-".

draft-kucherawy-dmarc-base is an individually posted Internet draft.
Anyone can post one of those (go ahead: try it).  They aren't IETF
documents.  That distinction is important.


In the "fine print" - but most folks don't read the fine print - which
makes it really easy for folks to take liberties in marketing and
management presentations.


Of course, this has been explained multiple times in multiple venues.

There is no way to prevent the actions of people who have no concern for speaking carefully and accurately, or who choose to dismiss details they find inconvenient.

Such folk fundamentally are engaging in the political effort of persuasion, rather than the intellectual effort of understanding.

For group interaction, the differences between the two are fundamentally different in terms of style, goals and outcome.
