certainly be interested in the failure report for this legitimate mail.

Keeping in mind that we're not going to change anything, one of the major reasons for failure reports was to help domains find unanticipated paths their mail takes so they can ensure that it is authenticated and aligned. For that purpose you *only* care about failing legit mail. I have to say I am surprised that at this late date some people (not you) don't understand that.

But getting back to John's point. This is a bis document which is Standards
Track. We should be staying within the scope of the recharter and NOT be
trying to add functionality.
