I woud agree and say the filters make it worthwhile, not to mention hardly
no latency for playing those complex patterns. I on the otherhand have sold
my hardware sampler simply because of how much time it would consume,
setting up presets backing them up, losing things here and there etc. I
guess if I shelled out a grand or more on a workhorse it would be a bit
easier, but I find soft samplers to be extremely easy to use, allowing me to
get on with the creative flow and not pulling my hair out pushing buttons.
That's saying a lot from a knob twiddler ; ) PC hardware these days is so
cheap and there are some extremely good soft samplers out on the market
right now that are leaps ahead of what we had last year. EXS24, Halion,
Battery etc. The only thing lacking is decent filters. It's going to be
interesting to see what happens in the year to come...
