If any of you have the planet phatt dance card installed in your Emu, I ust 
the 1st preset for sub bas called bass hum.  It's pretty much a sine wave.  
i've also been informed that if you write your basslines around lower G it 
seems to hit the sweet spot.  there's also a technique that can be used w/ 
808 bass drops by applying just the right amount of resonance.  they call it 
bass booming.

lately I solved some sub bass needs with a word : Junglist.....(assuming
you are using a VSTi host)....
about general tips on subbass sounds I think there's an exhaustive FAQ on
dnbproduction.com also, if my memory serves....
