Hmmm...

Been there mate. It's simple, if she can prove, and by that I mean that the environmental health will have to record the noise from her property and deem it unfair, then yes, you could be fined.

A big process will have to ensue before you can get done. You will be made aware if they record your noise levels as they will warn you with a letter to try and deter you. The court process takes time.

The only way you get away with major noise, is when it is deemed as part of living, i.e vacuum cleaner.

I have had the same shit for time, sometimes I f'in explode at the poor bastard. But he still bangs. It's about a compromise. Go talk to her and also leave you music playing and ask to hear it from hers, so you are more aware of how it must be for her, and if she is just being pinikity.

Good luck

Peace

Martyn

Subject: [dnb-prod] uk noise laws?

the girl who lives in the flat below me is a nurse and so has to work shifts. this means that most of the time she is trying to sleep during the day, while i am trying to make tunes.

i have been highly reasonable about this for nearly 2 years now, giving way to her initial knocks on the door, and now her thumps on
the ceiling. but fuck it, i've had enough of bloody headphones in the day. through the night, fine, but in the DAYTIME?

it's not my fault she works stupid hours right?

i am a dj and musician, and need to make music. it is what i do. soon it will be my primary source of income.

so my question is: if this turned legal, would i have a legal right to make daytime noise as it is my job?

i'm gonna go and shout at her when i've calmed down a bit, and would like to know where i stand before i go mouthing off...

keep it frosty,
mattrick
