This is what kills drum and bass for me. People hear the music, which is unlike anything they've heard (although true virgin ears are MUCH less common now because of the overglut of fake techno being used in commercials), and the first thing they want to do is go make music that "sounds like" the music they just heard. As a result, I have to dig through stacks and stacks of poorly produced wanna-be vinyl until I get so fed up with the lack of spirit in all the music coming out that I completely stop shopping for records altogether.
