I'll second not using WD40, too messy and unlikely to clean very well.  You could
quite safely try cleaning the contacts with either denatured alcohol or plain rubbing
alcohol, but I'm not sure it will do any good.  My Juno 106 has the same problem with
its volume knob, and I think the knob is flakey and needs to be replaced.  Be sure to
post if cleaning it clears up the problem, I'm curious.
