well, if you wanna get picky, i've seen a bunch of people set it up as an isoceles triangle actually, where the monitors are placed relatively closer to each other and facing perfectly forward, while i'm recommending having them outside some more and angled in towards the listener. whatever sounds good in the individual situation.
