yeah, copy protection is a bitch. it's been around since the 80's. it's a hardware thing mostly. even my laptop has macrovision problems with it's video out. Windows Media Player will not play any video file out and neither will Power DVD. It makes you wonder what the purpose of a video out is if you can't output anything except your desktop. Ripping em is the best way to go but it takes time and if you don't know what you're doing in the conversion to regular video files you get crappy quality. I'm glad DVDs are cheap.
