I started using Buzz coming off of Impulse Tracker. I didn't really like Fruity Loops and I couldn't quite figure out Reason or Cubase or anything else. So, coming from a tracker background, I usually work with samples. So a lot of the machines are samplers. The only other machines I used were the synth sounds like the one at the beginning and various drum fill stuff like hi hats and maybe a snare or somethin. Oh and I used a lot of machines for effects. I'll admit that Buzz feels a bit overcomplicated with all its screens for tweaking machines and all but if you have the patience for it it works damn well. One thing I really like is the ability to record and automate various controls on machines.
BUT to tell you the truth, after I figured out the idea behind routing sounds through various machines and mixers everything clicked for me. I opened up Cubase and Reason and it all made sense all of a sudden. So I left Buzz for those two programs. --kev/entitee http://www.entitee.com/dnb on 7/18/02 2:20 PM, Jurgen Baute at [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > > I'm currious on how it's made, how much are samples, and how much is > generated. > That hooverlike sound the track starts with is cool, and if it's generated it > means Buzz > can be used to make some really fat hoovers. > The drums I'm guessing are all samples (and not standard Buzz machines), the > piano could > be generated or sample, but the bass is also interesting to know. > > Perhaps you could upload some screenshots of your Buzz-studio to give an idea? > > About the track itself, that hoover needs to be phatter IMO, I looooooove > that, and the > one in the track promises some seriously ill phatness :) > > ------------------------ > On 18 Jul 2002 at 13:16, entitee wrote: > >> go to http://mp3.com/entitee and listen to Blackberry. >> that song was done with Buzz. >> >> --kev/entitee >> http://www.entitee.com/dnb >> >> >> on 7/18/02 12:39 PM, Jurgen Baute at [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: >> >>> >>> I've downloaded Buzz a day ago, played around with it a bit for a few hours >>> (reading the >>> manual mainly) and have a general idea of how the thing works now. >>> >>> I'm just wondering, besides a way to generate some weird and new sounds, >>> does >>> anyone use >>> Buzz to create drum'n'bass tracks? >>> Since making dnb is mainly about using a lot of samples, I don't see myself >>> creating >>> loads of sampler machines and programming them in the pattern editor etc >>> etc.. >>> It looks like a lot of work for something that's so easy to do in Fruity and >>> a >>> lot of >>> other soft. >>> >>> It does look like a neat way to come up with some highly acidic basslines >>> though :) >>> >>> >>> --- >>> ICQ #: 3362938 >>> >>> "progress doesn't come from early risers, >>> progress is made by lazy men looking for easier ways to do things" >>> >>> --- >>> >>> >>> --- >>> Drum&Bass Arena Producers Discussion List http://www.breakbeat.co.uk >>> You are currently subscribed to dnb-prod as: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >>> To unsubscribe send a blank email to >>> [EMAIL PROTECTED] >> >> >> --- >> Drum&Bass Arena Producers Discussion List http://www.breakbeat.co.uk >> You are currently subscribed to dnb-prod as: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >> To unsubscribe send a blank email to >> [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > > --- > ICQ #: 3362938 > > "progress doesn't come from early risers, > progress is made by lazy men looking for easier ways to do things" > > --- > > > --- > Drum&Bass Arena Producers Discussion List http://www.breakbeat.co.uk > You are currently subscribed to dnb-prod as: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > To unsubscribe send a blank email to > [EMAIL PROTECTED] --- Drum&Bass Arena Producers Discussion List http://www.breakbeat.co.uk You are currently subscribed to dnb-prod as: [email protected] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
