which is exactly the point, arbitrary rules like "do not add amen" or "only use diminished minor stabs on teusdays" ;) are silly... use anything you feel like. most importantly: just have fun with it. waste exactly no brain cycles worrying that some trainspotter is going to get all huffy that you did something "wrong". total science is a great example: 90% of their sound is doing stuff that is just plain "wrong" :)

yea but the way it is done in squash (and many other tunes) is in a manner
that fits... the other parts of the drums sound similar to the amen and the
drum pattern isnt a straight 2 stepper, and they fit..

its when you have some techy sounding drums then add an amen.. (i guess it
can be done proper, like anything else, but usually sounds wack...)

DO NOT ADD AN AMEN!!!! You can make an entire amen based track of course,

but adding an amen to pump up a non-amen track is the ultimate >>sign of
newbie cheesiness.

erm, squash anyone?

THERE ARE NO RULES.
