I think FSOL's reaction to the track took everyone by suprise. It's a decent remix and it would put them back in the spotlight again (probably would have
been able to rerelease (again) the original version, for all the peeps who missed it the first (2nd and 3rd) time). I suspect that the orginal vocals were sampled, but I don't know that for sure.
