I would have thought a TC Finalizer (Express onwards) or dbx Quantum to a standalone CD recorder would be better - you need to check out the sound on sound website reviews of kit you are thinking of buying - quality info and very informed reviews.
They weren't too keen on the OS of the Alesis and found it awkward and not amazingly functional, plus the TL compressor (although a nice valve sound, allegedly) is only one band, so not as good for the final mix really as a multi band, 4 EQ, maximiser/limiter (with quality sound and digital output) in the Finalizer. I don't want to sound rude, but I'm not sure you appreciate the value (some good and some bad points) of some of the kit you are looking at and unless money is no option, I wouldn't blow this considerable amount based on a salesmans pitch without really knowing if its the right thing for your needs. Keep asking the questions tho, cos it enables us to talk about stuff we can't afford, ha ;-) Cheers Dan -----Original Message----- From: Big Mac [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 21 March 2003 22:17 To: Drum & Bass Arena Discussion List Subject: [dnb-prod] RE: Mastering Digital Village suggested that if I get a Mackie d8b before recording on to a CD recorder I should run it through a compressor/finalizer etc. Digital Village suggested a TL Audio C-1 + an Alesis Masterlink ML-9600 as it has finalizers etc? What do others suggest? _________________________________________________________________ Use MSN Messenger to send music and pics to your friends http://messenger.msn.co.uk --- Drum&Bass Arena Producers Discussion List http://www.breakbeat.co.uk You are currently subscribed to dnb-prod as: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] --- Incoming mail is certified Virus Free.
