if you're gonna spend the money on 824's, i'd take a look at PMC's They are handmade, using transmission line tehnology for extended LF response....
I was recommended them by the engineer at Ealing Studios, and I Use the TB2s (s for studio - shielded) with a Haffler P3000 Amp. Bryston also do a special Power pack that attaches directly to the back and is perfectly matched with the TB2s. check the review at Sound On SOund: http://www.sospubs.co.uk/sos/Nov01/articles/pmcmonotors.asp The website at: http://www.pmcloudspeaker.com/tb1sf.htm And I got mine, with amp from: http://www.aspen-media.com/ These monitors are in a word, unbelievable..... ben @ streebeats www.streetbeats.co.uk PS, I used to have HR824s...and I felt the same re the top end often being quite fatiguing on the ears... What was worse for me was how the fabled flat frequency response only really seemed flat at loud levels....for quiet monitoring, they didnt seem so accurate... > -----Original Message----- > From: Andy Abang [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: 01 April 2003 18:04 > To: Drum & Bass Arena Discussion List > Subject: [dnb-prod] Re: Mackie Monitors > > > You know actually, > > Although Mackies are considered a standard when it comes to > quality, I've > heard a lot of people say that the tweeters are just a tad > too bright.
