the recording of your automation data goes into which ever pattern you
have highlighted while you record it. so go to an empty pattern, record
your automation, then in the sequencer make sure to add that patterns
into your song where you want the sweep. this took me a little while to
understand, but its core to effectively using fruity, patterns are not
just notes, they can be automation data too. even though you are
recording a sweep on, say, your bass sound, dont record the automation
into that pattern (unless you want it to happen every measure)
