AIN'T THAT THE FUCKING TRUTH! That's kind of why I'm getting paranoid about it, to be perfectly honest. I want to avoid abuse or overuse of what would otherwise be a handy tool. I mean I understand how it works - TO A DEGREE - and i understand the concept and goal of its use, but i'm really on this "the more i learn the more i realize i know nothing" tip. i'm not gonna be satisfied till i know everything there is to know about the stuff i'm trying to do. (goodbye comfort, hello frustrated life with impossible goals!) ;) > -----Original Message----- > From: Jurgen Baute [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Tuesday, July 29, 2003 10:36 AM > To: Drum & Bass Arena Discussion List > Subject: [dnb-prod] compression, it's just a tool (was ; Re: This list) > > > > that's right, it's just an effect like any other, > if you need it, use it, otherwise don't > > the problem is that compression is the hardest effect to > understand imo, so it's hard to > know where and how you should be using it > > and then you keep hearing and reading about it on > producer-related boards and you're > thinking "shit man, I've gotta start using some serious > compression on my tracks man, no > wonder they suck if I ain't using it" :) > > ------------------------ > On 29 Jul 2003 at 17:01, Terry Morgan wrote: > > > The thing is, if he's using pre-compressed samples then his > tunes aren't > > compression-less, it's just someone's already done the work for > him.
