What do you mean with simply not co-exist?
When it comes down to techno & house most genres can be played out on a night as far 
as I 
know, with the exception of the extreme genres like hardcore & gabber.

and to reply to the point, I don't think the subgenres in dnb are different enough to 
actually create a breach between them,
everyone has his/her preference of a subgenre, but I never heard anyone actually claim 
they couldn't stand techstep and where totally into dubby-digital-only tracks
