If all the newsgroups you are receiving are equally important to you then a single pile is fine. If you have several newsgroups that you would like to have longer retention for then put them in a seperate pile. Normally you use a seperate pile for the binaries to limit their spool usage so they don't affect the retention time of the text based newsgroups too much. But in your case without the binary newsgroups it won't matter as much. It really boils down a question of which newsgroups are the most important to you retention wise.
