sort_order date is a dnewsweb.ini setting, not a dnews setting, it affects 
the order messages are shown in dnewsweb and
makes them display in order based on 'arrival date' not 'posting date' so 
the actual date headers may not appear in
order even when this setting is used, however if it's working the items 
will be in numerical order.  (normally when sorted by
thread or subject the items are not in numerical order)

The xover files are not affected by this setting.
