You are issuing the correct command, I suspect the BROKEN PIPE error is the
root of your problem.
It can be caused in 2 main ways.
1) Your 'myname' setting in dnews.conf could be wrong, try
changing it to the IP number of your dnews system
2) Dnews might not be running at all, this you would probably
notice as you wouldn't be able to connect with any client.
3) Your access.conf may be blocking local access.
For 2,3 examine dnews.log after the command to see if there is an
error/explanation
re: checking the group exists, type in:
tellnews showgroups roehampton_staff.ideas
