Basically there is a need to put something somewhere to point to where
everything else is.
There are two ways of doing this.
1) The windows registery
2) A file placed in a 'known' location
We use method 2) because it works on non windows systems. Certainly there are
ways this could have been made slightly better but you get the idea,
something had
to be relative to the system. And it's too late to change it now as it
would almost
certainly cause nasty things to go wrong.
So, for the moment, the best advice is remember to copy this file during
windows upgrades/installs
And we'll try not to make the same mistake again in future.
