> Is there any reason why DNEWS uses 15-20mb of system ram? Bit of a hog
isnt it?

Hi,

In short, yes. Dnews is designed to take a full news feed, and in order to
do that efficiently, it must use a large amount of RAM (For history and
various indexes). You can trim the RAM usage a little by setting
'max_groups' to a low value - the default is around 50000 groups.

> And also, what is that dnews admin program all about! Eeek, that is the
worst looking front end i think i have ever seen, is there a newer version
coming out soon? I have v5d5 for win32

I am not aware of any plans for a new version at this time. We will fix bugs
any bugs that are reported however. I prefer to control dnews from the
command line (tellnews) or the web interface (http://your.server:7119), and
most support answers assume the user is doing the same unless they specify
otherwise.
