Hi, DNews does expire news in the way you describe, although it does so slightly differently from how you might expect.
You need to ensure all piles in expire.conf have 'use' rules (a percentage of the total spool space), and that these add to less than 100%. This will cause dnews to remove oldest items to make room for the new.
