At least for now, when upgrading from Debian Jessie to Devuan Jessie, the kernel version doesn't change and consequently the modules remain compatible. So AFAIU a reboot would not be necessary at all. Even if the kernel version should change (e.g. when upgrading from Debian Wheezy), the dist-upgrade will not trigger the loading of any modules, so a hint to avoid doing any fancy stuff during the upgrade process (and do a reboot afterwards) should be more than enough.
