Try to submit a patch like that by yourself, and see how long does it take for the "PLONK" sound to he heard loud and clear, from a distance. Debian has made her decision. I know it's hard to believe for a long-time Debianist, but they have effectively no intention of supporting anything else than systemd. You should try to accept this as a fact, after 30 months, go through the the appropriate bereavement, and move on.
