No, the bad light was shed by mattatobin opening the issue with the Internet version of a punch to the nose rather than with a handshake. The other stuff is tangential, IMO. The issue may well have been resolved satisfactorily had mattatobin taken a friendlier approach when he opened the issue. Instead he doubled down and the main developer didn't call him out so that reveals a lot about the project developers.
