I wonder if we'd be better off here if we encourage people to do and document experiments before we try to select one (or >1) approach? I figure the trade-offs are complex enough that a round of people pruning possibilities themselves might be better before we try pick which answers are worth standardising. E.g., maybe run an initial stage of this as a competition like thing where (on some date) people need to turn up and describe their approach and how they got on when doing experiments with that?
