The NOERROR NODATA response from ns1.obol-net.net is accompanied by two NS RRs
in the authority section. From a rough scan of the debug output I think that
at least my nameserver/resolver running BIND 8.2.3 feels sent into an endless
loop by these references and thus generates the "SERVFAIL". Maybe it is more
appropriate to discuss this on a BIND related list.

There's no magic here with port 53 sourced queries.
