    I was wondering what other tips people have, and what improvments can be
    made to the tips here.

Lots of improvements can be made. Maybe you should first look into
RFC 1912 ``Common DNS Operational and Configuration Errors'' and
similar documents (RFC 's, but also RIPE doucemnts) before you roll
your own which upto now includes suggestions to be not compliant
width RFC 1035.
