If anyone has valid uses for reverse DNS, I say let them speak for themselves.
Which they (and others I was not aware of) have done.
And all of those allegedly "legitimate" uses have turned out to be doable better -- more securely, more reliably, whatever -- in other ways besides end-node reverse DNS. Got anything new to add to the discussion?
