Because servers out there won't allowing it access without a name.
I know this is stupid but they exist.

I expect to have fibre to the home within 5 years as part of the
NBN rollout here in Aus.  With that there is no good reason discourage
running servers at home as there are with asymetric access technologies
like cable and aDSL.
