When reading an RFC on the Datatracker, or in either of the supported HTML 
forms, you have to squint to see the status of the RFC, and you have to know to 
look for it. You're sending a "proper signal" to a small percentage of readers.

It appears that you can submit errata on historic documents, so this is not a 
good reason to make something historic.
