Hi! I did some testing with NS 4 this weekend and I think I found a CSS-only design that's sort of good-looking /and/ working in NS4 (WinME), IE 5.5 (WinME), Mozilla (Linux) and Opera (Linux).
Please check with other browser/OS: http://domm.zsi.at/modperl-site-domm/ Things I did: * Changed the main navbar: droped the boxes, used arrows instead * Removed an inline style attribute in the W3C-CSS image, that caused some serious problems in NS4 * added <hr> in tail to span pages with little content over the whole page * removed some HTML-errors spotted by Allan * removed borders around boxes, because they are rendered very ugly and distortingly in NS4 * moved download widget left of prev/up/next widget * simplified last-modified * Some major fiddling with style.css, mainly: - added width:160px to the navbar boxes. This way they are all the same size in NS4 - added width:100% to rigth boxes, so they span the whole page in NS4 - added right-margin:20px to rightbox, to prevent browsers from drawing a horizontal scrollbar - changed font-size to 11px in the NavBar. I did this because with IE5.5 the font was so big that "Documentation" didn't fit into the NavBar and thus caused some ugly resizing Some unresolved (unresolvable) issues: * Font sizes: IE renders fonts bigger. Period. The only thing you can do about it is specifiy the fonts absolute values, which is not userfriendly. -- D_OMM +----> http://domm.zsi.at <-----+ O_xyderkes | neu: Arbeitsplatz | M_echanen | http://domm.zsi.at/d/d162.html | M_asteuei +--------------------------------+ --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
