sorry, I've missed this post.
I thought so, that's why I posted :-)
Looks good, here are some comments:
---
I think it's better to replace the first para with something like this:
If you find that mod_perl has helped out your web project and you enjoy coding for mod_perl , please consider linking back to perl.apache.org. As an Open Source project, we don't have funds for advertising, so we have to rely on the word of the mouth and links from our users.
Scratch the note about the vote, it doesn't matter anymore (IMHO).
Done.
para 2:
The official logo, by Michael Demers (mike (at) inteo.com):
[ the logo ]
[Transparent BG] [Black BG] [White BG] [SVG] [Animated SVG]
added the white bg to the menu (because otherwise you don't see it) and removed the "white background" note from the top. put the SVG items last, since it's actually a bad idea to link to us with SVG banners--SVG crashes most of the modern browsers. So need to rethink this one.
Ok. Also added note about people not being supposed to use the SVG one but just edit it if they need something special.
Banners: I prefer to s/Versatility/Scalability/, what do you think?
Ok. I just took that idea from another logo, thought it look nice. I changed it to Scalability.
also if I don't know what modperl is, I'd never understand from the message on the banner (I know it's easy to criticize, as I didn't do one :). So need some ideas here if you agree with me. Also some graphics will make the banner more attractive, anybody knows some graphic designers?
I appreciate constructive criticism, but don't plan to spend too much time on these banners either. However, I totally agree with that comment. I think we can have several banners though.
Maybe one like this: - Tired of waiting ...? - Love Perl and Apache? - What you need is... - [modperl] - Use it *now*!
About graphics: I thought maybe it would be cool to have a bullet going through the logo and the caption "Faster than a speeding bullet", but that's way out of my scale. I don't know any good graphic designers either.
Also probably need to add a note that HTML needs to be adjusted if the other banner is used.
That one's already there, although I'll change it a bit.
Also need to ask users to download the images instead of linking off perl.apache.org.
Hmm, I say "download" each time. I'll make it stand out more though.
I'm not sure if we want the 'cogs.png', do we? it's fine for favicon, because we cannot fit anything there. But I'd rather have the full logo.
Ok.
Also why do we have the full logo button only in a very small size? and we probably don't want the button without the cogs.
Well, it is 88x31, like you asked. It's too long, that's why it looks small when compressed to 88 pixels. That's also why I created the other one, which makes the modperl text bigger.
Finally:
" Alternatively, we also have a list of other buttons that you may use if these don't suit your needs."
Hmm, I think it's better if we try to brand the logo and we already have 2.5 brands. So I'm -1 on other logos. we can still keep them somewhere.
Well, I don't know where else to put them. They are clearly interesting for historical purposes... But what should I do with these?
Another suggestion:
Change the design of the page to be a table where each row is:
image | description | HTML code
it'll probably be too wide, but is it a problem? But I think it'll make the page look much nicer and consistent.
Well... Yes I agree that it might be good, but it'll *clearly* be too wide. Maybe if I make the banners and logo smaller, so that it all fits somewhat?
