As I mentioned in a separate thread: http://tinyurl.com/solaris1
The problem is that the document team is using the SolBookMono font, which is a type 1 font, in generating Solaris/ZFS-related documents. Freetype 2.3.6, when trying to fix a bug, introduced another bug which cause some rendering problems for some type 1 fonts. I have regenerated these pdf files by replacing the SolBookMono fonts with the plain 'ol Courier fonts, and the invisible fonts are now visible. Please see: http://tinyurl.com/zfs-pdf As Richard mentioned, this bug has been fixed in Build 97, which will be at least a few weeks before it is percolated to OpenSolaris. Because OpenSolaris is not that advanced in handling esoteric fonts, and that there is no guarantee that the same problem, perhaps by a different bug, will not reappear, it is sincerely hoped that the document team could stick to fonts that are generally available. (In the past two months or so, I had to boot into either SuSE or Vista--something I have been able to avoid for quite some time, solely for the purpose of reading Solaris/ZFS userguides.) Thanks a whole lot. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
