Just an update to this thread (in case you haven't noticed this yet), 
OpenSolaris 2008.11 RC2 includes a good amount of man pages. Not all are 
there yet, but enough that the SVR4 package I suggested might no longer 
be necessary.

Thanks to whoever made this possible, life's much simpler now ;)
