Hi,

I'm planning to up-rev the Tcl scripting language and Tk GUI
toolkit in Solaris, as well as moving them from /usr/sfw to /usr,
but am wondering how to handle the many manpages they contain.

By default, they will install the following files:
  /usr/share/man/man1 - 2 manpages
  /usr/share/man/man3 - 758 manpages
  /usr/share/man/mann - 179 manpages
(Most of the section 3 and section n manpages -- approx 2/3 --
are actually links to the others. Many of these files, for older
Tcl/Tk versions, are currently in /usr/sfw/share/man.)

So, I've 2 main questions:
- is "mann" a proper man section? I note there is an empty /usr/share/man/mann
dir in Solaris, created by SUNWman, but I cannot find a description of what
  man section "n" is?

- I'd rather not clutter the man3 dir with so many new files, so what should I
do?
Suggestions include: leave them as they are; create "man3tcl" and "man3tk"
sections; only install the section 1 files (as Red Hat does) and dump the
rest.
Can I get some guidance from docs people on what the recommended
  approach should be?

Thanks,
- Dermot
