DocBook to PDF hasn't been too complex for me, at least last time I had
a serious use for it. This was about 4-5 years ago so the tools weren't
even as "nice" as they are now.
IIRC you're the leader of the documentation community. Is there a
"Solaris Documentation Source Build" package for Solaris?
Such a package would:
1. Determine what packages the user already has on the system
- no point in installing stuff it's already there
2. Install missing bits and pieces
Eventually, the package would allow documentors to do:
docbook2pdf my-shiny-new-documentation.xml > documentation.pdf
I do agree that getting any XML document to any format other than XML or
HTML (which is really just a non-conforming version of XML with
reasonably standard styling) is very complex.
But if you are uing DocBook I'm wondering what the difficulty is...
