Hi Ming,

I can see how the slight difference in these descriptions can be confusing. To 
all: how can we modify these two descriptions to make things more clear, if 
others agree that the distinction is not obvious enough:

Programming guides explain how to write programs that take advantage of the 
features of the
particular product.

Usage guides tell readers how to use the features of a software product.

Thoughts?
