- wiki2docbook

To my knowledge, there is no script/program to direct convert wiki to
docbook/tex nicely
http://cpan.uwinnipeg.ca/search?query=wiki&mode=dist has some perl scripts that
may be helpful.

- my problem with wiki is that there is no single syntax standard.
I like moinmoin wiki but medidawiki has more publicity and more contents.

- But again wiki eliminate the single authorship bottleneck and provide easy
way for group contribution. This make it a good tool for team documentation
work.

- Not to downplay the importance of professional documentation work. This is
needed also. I believe some Solaris documentation by professional will show up
in Oreilly bookstore soon.

- before wiki2docbook(mediawiki2docbook specifically) is avaiable. manual
editing from wiki to docbook/tex is needed.

Thanks for this information. I didn't know Sun has a version of docbook on
Solaris and use
it to generate document.

if we want to use docbook then the standard docbook software packages for
Solaris need to
be worked on. At work, I asked http://www.thewrittenword.com to package
some of docbook related software(opensp etc ..) with the intention to use
docbook on my Soarlis boxes at work, but I never has time to migrate my docbook
work from RH to Solaris. Someworks still need to be done before Solaris
docbook package upto standard of RedHat's docbook.

I really like docbook on RH, Diffent kind of formats(RTF,ps,pdf, html) can be
gernerated
by a makefile easily. No need to fire up GUI application. very good for
automation.
