Hi,
I gave some of the desktop feedback, which has been added by Alan to the wish
list. So Alan asked me to join the discussion by email to explain more what I
had in mind as I short wrote down my comments.

I have see several users who would like to get some help on this desktop steps,
but don't want to become admins, just to admin their desktops.

To start the discussion, what I could imagine ...
- How to best partition the disk on a laptop for dual boot.
- How to organize the user zpool that it do not gets destroyed on a new
installation (this is a limitation of the new installer where we can work
around)
- Which smf-services could be disabled under what circumstances (I have my
personal list of disabled services, but I am not sure what others have).
- Which packages I installed to get songbird running (I use the codecs from
ips.homeunix.com)
- What if data have to be sync'ed with home data on a server ? I use unison,
which is not included in the official repository.
- What to do to connect a projector with twin view on my laptop during
presentations. ?

... so it might become a long list, and I just write it down here as it comes
into my mind. I have not yet a real clue how to sort that all.

I am taking care of my own short list, but that's just a table ...

Regards
Detlef

Ahoy! So... I'd be delighted to try writing some documentation for
OpenSolaris. I think I can contribute on 'How to customize your
desktop/laptop/sunray.' I have OS b130 running on my EeePC netbook, on
my Core2 Duo desktop, and on a Linux machine under VirtualBox. But I'm
not sure exactly what to write about. Are there any specific sorts of
customizations that need to be documented? I did remove a lot of
packages from the default install and add a lot of others. Is that
something to write about? I also disabled some extra services that I
didn't need and that were eating up memory.

In short: can people help suggest what exactly needs to be documented
RE: 'How to customize your desktop/laptop/sunray.' OR 'How to customize
your workspace'?
