Bug ID: 70059
Summary: mod_rewrite reference summary: Unclear reference to
“server variables”
Product: Apache httpd-2
Version: 2.5-HEAD
Hardware: All
URL: https://httpd.apache.org/docs/trunk/en/mod/mod_rewrite
.html
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: trivial
Priority: P4
Component: Documentation
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
The Summary of the mod_rewrite reference contains:
> Each rule can have an unlimited number of attached rule conditions, to allow
> you to rewrite URLs based on server variables, environment variables,
> cookies, HTTP headers, or timestamps.
>
It is unclear what “server variables” means in that sentence. The page has
another occurrence, in the RewriteCond Directive section, this time defining
“Server-Variables”. According to ticket #70042 comment 4, “server variables”
and “Server-Variables” (capitalized and hyphenated) mean the same. The section
also uses “server-variables” (uncapitalized and hyphenated).
By the way, as httpd uses “environment variables” in a particular sense, a link
to https://httpd.apache.org/docs/trunk/en/env.html would clarify.
