Bug ID: 70075
Summary: Compiling and Installing: Confusing requirements
(compilation vs execution)
Product: Apache httpd-2
Version: 2.5-HEAD
Hardware: All
URL: https://httpd.apache.org/docs/trunk/en/install.html#re
quirements
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: trivial
Priority: P5
Component: Documentation
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
The Requirements section of the Compiling and Installing page starts with:
> The following requirements exist for building Apache httpd:
Most of the following items are presumably actual build dependencies, but
“Accurate time keeping” surely is more of a runtime dependency. In fact, I am
not sure it is really a requirement even at execution; specifying what happens
if the time is “inaccurate” would clarify.
By the way:
•If the section wants to track all (partial) dependencies, it should mention a
PGP program (like GnuPG) so the signature verification guidance can be
followed.
•Presenting the list as a definition list is poor, since the paragraphs are not
actual definitions.
