Bug ID: 70082
Summary: Upgrading assumes compilation from vanilla source
Product: Apache httpd-2
Version: 2.5-HEAD
Hardware: All
URL: https://httpd.apache.org/docs/trunk/en/install.html#up
grading
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: Documentation
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
The Upgrading section of the Compiling and Installing page contains:
> To upgrade across minor versions, start by finding the file config.nice in
> the build directory of your installed server or at the root of the source
> tree for your old install.
This assumes httpd was installed by compiling vanilla source, which is
typically not the case. For example, on a Debian system, a single operation
(like # apt install apache2) generally suffices for a minor upgrade.
