Hey everyone! I've got a '99 Base model 'Trep that came equipped with the bolt-on style wheel covers. They're the factory wheel covers (bought my 'Trep brand new) but I'm having a problem with the silver coated finish fading and peeling off the covers, primarily in the "spoke" areas. I've already replaced two of them but the other two are now beginning to do the same thing. I've only got around 45,000 miles on them. Anyone got any ideas on how I can prolong the finish of those covers? I'm really not interested in getting after market rims (or wheel covers for that matter) because I want to keep the car pretty much stock. A complete set of new covers from my local Dodge dealer are around $200. and I've seen original factory wheel covers for this model year go for around $140 at places on-line, but I was hoping maybe some kind of do-it-yourself clearcoat finishing process to seal the painted finish. Something other than going out and buying a whole new set of wheel covers.
How about it? Anybody got any ideas? Thanks... ------------------------ Yahoo! Groups Sponsor --------------------~--> Yahoo! Autos. Everything you need to know about buying or selling a car.
