The 2000R/T top speed is HP/drag limited only. The rev-limiter forces an up shift instead of a fuel cut-off or soft
Rev-limit through ignition system. This was changed in 2001. Now the engine rpm is limited. Try (at your own risk) a first gear run in Manual shift mode it will shift to second at the limiter instead of cutting back on the engine. I have seen a few people quote 142 as a top speed. I just shifted into 4th (autostick) at just under 120mph. I'd guess I was doing about 140-145mph (I-95 South). I would expect it to be rev-limited, as opposed to drag-limited. Not necessarily that there is a speed GOVERNOR in it (some cars cut out at certain speeds -- this is due to the speed rating of the tires being programmed into the ECU). But at some point you will hit just over peak horsepower in top gear, and your speed will stop increasing.
