On my '96 3.5L Trep (181 K miles) the idle acted up &
was averaging 1500 rpm. While inspecting the engine I
heard a sucking noise, & sprayed WD40 where the intake
manifold meets the block. Sure enough, it was sucked
in.
The old gasket disingegrated when the manifold was
pulled. New gasket solved problem.
Engine runs fine now.
