I have another question...

Las Thursday, the engine of my Intrepid 98 ES turned off by itself while
driving at aprox 35 miles/hr. It never turned on again and it made sounds
similar like when the car's timing is off. It will turn but immediately will
stop turning. Sometime it will not turn and it will sound like the battery
is going dead (but it is not)...so for and so on.
I checked for engine codes and it showed me 1391!
I took the card to the shop and he told me first that it was a sensor... he
replaced it and the car did not work. Then he told me it was another sensor
and again the car did not work. Now he is telling me that what happen is
that the timing belt broke ($150 labor. $75 timing belt and $50 on extras).

The problem is that he said that we won't know until the car is put back
together if there is a problem with the valves or something else... he said
that sometimes when the timing belt brakes, on some cars the valves brake.

My question is, the Intrepid 98 ES is not one of those that the timing belt
is on "interference"... right?

Would it be wise to replace the water pump now (165,000 miles)that the front
of the engine is disassembled? I had several water problems in the past that
I had to replace the radiator, radiator fans and I "think" that there was a
noise (like a bearing) coming from the front of the engine... (may be the
water pump failing or maybe it was the timing chain braking up????)

Any suggestions?

Thank you guys!

Edmundo
